Song Cycle for Baritone, Piano and Artificial Intelligence

An evening of music and visual art presented like you’ve never seen before. Jesus performs Franz Schubert’s 24-song magnum opus, all while painting 5 canvases over the course of the work. Simultaneously, the text of each song is fed through a projected AI image generator, juxtaposing and highlighting the expressive capacities of both Man and Machine. In the spirit of John Henry, Deep Blue, and countless other’s who’ve confronted the existential realities of modernization, this performance explores Humankind’s relation to both Nature and Machine, placing us solidly in the struggle between both. Experience Franz Schubert’s timeless masterpiece like you’ve never seen it before, and walk away with a deeper understanding of how the human spirit searches for purpose and understanding in the 21st Century.
