Described by Opera News as "a potent baritone", Detroit native Jesús Vicente Murillo has performed Opera, Musical Theater, and Concert works extensively across North America since his debut with Michigan Opera Theater at the age of eighteen.

Recent operatic engagements have included a recital series with the Deer Valley Music Festival, Ser Amantio di Nicolao in Gianni Schicchi, and Captain Gardiner in a new production of Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer's Moby Dick, with Utah Opera, his first Bass Soloist in Handel's Messiah with Utah Symphony Orchestra, The Voice of Christ in Bach's St. Matthew Passion with Salt Lake Choral Artists, José Castro in La Fanciulla del West, and L'Inconnu in David Dichiera's Cyrano with Michigan Opera Theater, and Bob Noxious in the Midwest premier of Phillip Thompson's The Final Battle for Love with Thompson Street Opera.

Highlights of Jesús's 2018/19 season include a series of recitals with the Deer Valley Music Festival, Gregorio in Romeo et Juliette, The Captain, The Crook and The Judge in Leonard Bernstein's Candide, The Businessman, Hunter, and Baobab in Rachel Porter's The Little Prince, and Papageno cover, and Second Priest in Die Zauberflöte with Utah Opera, and a reprisal of Handel's Messiah with the Utah Symphony.

In 2014 he received his Bachelor of Music from The University of Michigan where he studied with Stephen Lusmann, and his Master of Music from McGill University in 2016 under the tutelage of Winston Purdy.

He currently resides in Salt Lake City, Utah where he is a Resident Artist with Utah Opera.
